Getting started
- Create a new seriesA series holds your books, characters, places and canon, and takes a few short steps to set up.
- Explore the demo seriesThe Hollowmere Cycle is a finished sample series you can look around and change, to see what the studio does.
- Import your manuscriptBring in a Word document, Markdown or plain-text file and check how it splits into chapters and scenes before anything is saved.
- Add a book to your seriesAdd the next book in the series and start writing or importing into it.
- Add a chapterAdd a new chapter at the end of a book and start writing straight away.
- Add a prologue or epilogueA prologue and an epilogue sit outside the chapter numbers, so Chapter 1 stays Chapter 1.
Writing
- Plan your plot in the outlineThe Plot outline shows the whole plot book by book: acts, every chapter with your plan for it, and the threads that move in it.
- Keep your ideas in the brain dumpA quick place for ideas before they go, for the whole series or one book.
- Plan your writing daysThe Planner is a calendar: give a day a word target, a note and tasks, set goals, and see the words you wrote.
- Lay out your story as a storyboardThe Storyboard shows your story as a film strip: a card for each chapter or each scene, act by act.
- Write and save a chapterWrite straight into the chapter; your words save on their own as you type.
- Add a new scene while you writeSplit a chapter into scenes with a scene break, from the toolbar that stays at the top as you scroll.
- Link a name in your text to an entryType @ in the manuscript to link a name to a character, place or other entry in your bible.
- Check your spellingMisspelt words get a dotted underline. Names in your bible, and words you add, are never marked.
- Find another wordOther words for the word at the cursor, by meaning. Pick one and it takes the word’s place.
- Look at your styleHighlights words repeated nearby, overused words, long sentences, the passive, filter words and adverbs on dialogue tags.
- Keep a version or go back to an earlier oneSave a named copy of a chapter before a big rewrite, or bring back an earlier version.
- See your world as it was at an earlier chapterView canon at shows the bible, map, timeline and manuscript as they stood at any point in the story.
- Share your book for people to readMake a link to the whole book, one chapter or a few chapters. Anyone with it can read it like a book, with no account.
- Find anything in your seriesSearch every entry, fact and chapter of the series from any page inside it.
Reading with AI
- Ask AI to read a chapterAI reads one chapter and suggests characters, places and facts your bible does not have yet.
- Read the whole book with AIAI reads every chapter with text, one at a time, and lists the entries it suggests so you can approve them together.
- Read the book for one character or placeAI reads only the passages that name one entry and suggests what the bible is missing about it.
- Check a chapter against the bibleAI compares a chapter with your canon and flags places where they may disagree.
- What AI reads and pictures costCredits pay for AI work; every button says what it will use before you click.
- Why AI suggestions aren’t canon until you approve themAI never writes into your bible or manuscript; everything it finds waits for you.
- Turn AI off or choose what it may readYou decide, for each series, what the AI may read and suggest, or turn it off entirely.
Characters and the Canon Inbox
- Approve or reject suggestions in the Canon InboxThe Canon Inbox holds AI suggestions, possible conflicts and drafts you parked, until you decide.
- Merge a suggestion into an entry you already haveWhen AI suggests a “new” character who is really one you have, merge it instead of approving it.
- Merge two characters or entriesJoin two entries that turn out to be the same person, place or thing.
- Add a character or other entry by handAdd a character, place or anything else to your bible yourself.
- Edit or add a factChange a fact on an entry, or add a new one; canon facts keep their old wording in history.
- Undo a changeEvery change to canon can be undone.
Places, lore and the map
- Change a place into a realm or move it inside anotherSet what kind of place something is and which place it sits inside; the maps are drawn from this.
- Add lore to a realm or worldWrite about a realm’s history, people and customs; lore is canon, so AI checks the book against it.
- Arrange the map from the bookAI suggests where each place lies from what your book says, and you choose whether to use it.
Timeline
