Find another word

Other words for the word at the cursor, by meaning. Pick one and it takes the word’s place.

  1. Put the cursor in a word, or select it.
  2. Click Synonyms in the bar above the text, or press Alt+S (Control+Option+S on a Mac).
  3. Use the arrow keys or the mouse to choose a word, and press Enter or click it. It keeps the capital letter if the old word had one.
  4. Changed your mind? Press Ctrl+Z (⌘Z on a Mac) to put the old word back, or Esc to close the list.

Good to know

  • A word with an ending is looked up under its plain form: “walked” shows other words for “walk”.
  • The words come from WordNet, so they are dictionary meanings; choose the one that fits your sentence, and check its ending (“walked” may need “strolled”, not “stroll”).
